Established in 2003 as a charitable Company. The Cause 2000 (TC2) promotes Caribbean Culture and was started with the view of bringing together the peoples from the Caribbean Communities, to provide for their welfare, and other required services for the benefit of the Caribbean population living in Croydon, encouraging positive integration with the wider society in general.
We tackle the inequalities and social exclusion faced by many Caribbean Elders and their families. We also provide a platform through which Caribbean Elders can share and access credible, accurate knowledge, information, education and skills. We provide an outreach service delivered through the use of trained volunteers and community advocates who understand the needs and concerns of Caribbean elders offering emotional and practical support. TheCause works to empower Caribbean 's to make informed decisions about their care and treatment, talking greater control over their lives.
We negotiate changes to existing service making mainstream services culturally sensitive. Provide information on available resources and services targeted at elders and how to access them. Advocate on behalf of elders to get their views heard & effectively participate in the Community.
The aims of the TC2 is to serve the needs of Caribbean Communities regardless of religious/linguistic or cultural differences and at the same time aiming to provide support service to create a prosperous, healthy and better future for the Caribbean Communities in Croydon.
TC2 is working particularly closely with other Caribbean organisations within the Borough of Croydon by providing support and assistance with a view that these member organisations build their capacity in order for them to provide better support to the groups they are serving.
TC2 works in partnership with Croydon Adult Learning and Training (CALAT) to bring about Culturally Sensitive training for those in the care industry. We are supported by Bridge House Trust, and Living Learning.
An experienced Executive Committee, professional staff and a dedicated volunteer force runs the organisation. The Islands of the Caribbean's Culture is different from other Cultures but what makes it unique is the make up of its people. In the Caribbean you can find people from every country in the world but you will find that their overall Culture is the same and very different from other countries. An example of the would be in the Caribbean you will find many people of Indian decent but from the Caribbean , you will find that the Indian from Indian would speak a different language and have a different Culture and the same would apply with a Chinese person from china and one from the Caribbean their language is different and so is the Culture or a white person Great Britain would have different Cultures from a White person from the Caribbean even if they speak the same language.
We pride ourselves in having people from various parts of the world but with the same Culture and speaking the same language. The Cause 2000 is dedicated to serve all in the Caribbean Communities made up of peoples all nationalities. |
