TheCause 2000 was set up in November 2003 to develop and empower Caribbean Elders living in Croydon and surrounding boroughs; we tackle the inequalities and social exclusion faced by many Caribbean Elders and their families. We also provide a platform through which Caribbean Elders can share and access credible, accurate knowledge, information, education and skills. We provide an outreach service delivered through the use of trained volunteers and community advocates who understand the needs and concerns of Caribbean elders offering emotional and practical support. TheCause works to empower Caribbean's to make informed decisions about their care and treatment, talking greater control over their lives. We negotiate changes to existing service making mainstream services culturally sensitive. Provide information on available resources and services targeted at elders and how to access them. Advocate on behalf of elders to get their views heard & effectively participate in the Community.
